Ruby’s Final Blog

The trip as a whole was good. I really enjoyed being able to see so may places all in one trip. The building style in the French Quarter was very beautiful. Seeing all of the devastation in Louisiana was intense. There are lots of areas that are completely destroyed, places that news doesn’t even cover.
Traveling up to D.C. was fun other than being stuck in the van. The most fun thing for me was playing on the beach. I enjoyed walking around D.C. and going to all of the museums even though they were very crowded. Being at the White House was fun also. The police there were very rude and got mad when we spoke our minds.
When we got to West Virginia, we got to see some of the strip mines that are ruining Virginia’s mountain tops. It was scary to know that people are allowed to destroy entire mountains for coal, exposing all kinds of minerals that have never seen that light of day, and harming the environment. What affected me the most was that they do it without any repercussion of how it effects the environment and the people living in the area.
Altogether this trip has been exciting and a great experience. This is something that has affected me in a positive way and a memory that I won’t forget.
