What happens when you question what your rights are?-Crystal

What happens when you question, up front, what it is in a police officer’s right to make you do? You get told to shut up and do as you’re told. Yesterday, that’s what happened to me, right in front of the White House. In Crestone, people take the freedom that we are given for granted. What happens when we meet, face to face, the problem that our country faces, the problem of our rights denied? Your teenager wins an argument with a police officer, and shows the world that when you question authority, you get a nearly violent reprisal. Perhaps it is the way I refused to back down and surrender my right to say what I feel, but the officer lost the argument with little grace, and not even a last word. Against a teenager! I questioned, and he couldn’t answer.
So what happens when you question what your rights are? You remind people that we (as Americans) have the right to have rights in the face of all opposition. You alert the government that you are not as stupid as they would like you to be, and prove that being even slightly subversive is unwelcome and unanticipated. Do I advise questioning your rights and your government? Yes, with all my heart. Do it in the middle of a bomb threat like I did? Well, not unless you like making cops cry.
