Joshua's Smithsonian post

We went to the Smithsonian visiting the American History and Natural History Museums. We later visited the Washington monument and the Lincoln, WWII, and Vietnam War memorials. At the end of the day Jessica and I took the Metro to see our Aunt, Uncle and our cousin who live just outside of D.C.
There were a lot of highs and lows in the day, but we witnessed artifacts and objects that many of us had seen in pictures, this time seeing the real beauty of the art. Like the man who worked for the Corps of engineers said, no picture can portray the real presence of being there, the feelings that arise are always different and can never be reproduced. I enjoyed seeing the musical instruments and several other exhibits in the American History Museum. The Natural History Museum was my favorite though, the fossils, gems (including the Hope Diamond), and other exhibits of our natural world were unlike any I had seen before.
The Lincoln Memorial seemed to evoke different feelings in all of us. I think it was an amazing sight to see the site which tried to portray the dedication that Abraham Lincoln represented. The day was an eerily calm, but new and exciting adventure.
