Pointillism and other art forms

http://www.nga.gov/feature/artnation/fauve/influences_2.shtm

Among other things this week, we have made several art museum stops. In the Impressionist exhibit of the National Gallery of Art, Soleil and Katlyn had fun looking at a painting done it the Pointillism style, where small dots of paint are applied with the tip of the paint brush. The result, especially seen from a distance, creates a picture. In this case it was a soft and beautiful landscape.

When we got to the DADA exhibit in the modern East Building of the museum, I showed a more modern painting and asked if they thought whether it was pointillism also. Peering closely at it, Katie remarked dryly, "It looks more like pointless-ism to me!"

  • Dadaist would love that observation!

BTW, the picture is missing from your post.

  • I fixed it for you. You were trying to insert an image but instead inserted the link to the page. I followed the link and inserted the image, and provided the link below in case you wanted both.

  • Thanks Jay.

And...what an astute observation about the DaDaist insight in Katie's comment!
