Costa Rica Blog Entry #1
The Link group arrived in Costa Rica at 5:30 AM and had a full day cruzing San Jose. We visited the Cultural Museo de Oro (gold), the oldest market in town (circa 1880), the Teatro Nacional (national theater house), plus breakfast and lunch out on the town. Of course the kids were exhausted…. Until we got back to the hotel and swimming pool!
We’ve had a great first day, our hosts Elbert and Minor are very accommodating and helpful, and all the kids are doing well.
San Jose currently has a Vaca art installation hence the cows in the images!
We may not have internet until next Saturday, but know that thus far all is well, and we are heading out of the big city and off to San Ramon and then Bejuco beach area. I expect students will feel more settled as we develop routine and move away from city scene.
The weather is hot and humid, but not uncomfortably so, with a pattern of afternoon showers developing.
We’ll be in touch, Thomas

All around San Jose were many cows on display. This was some of the most inspiring art that I have seen in a while. These cows ranged in color, designs, and even attire. Our class saw a cow covered in disco mirrors which reflected the light around it in various anomalies.
Overall the first impressions of Costa Rica have been something good.

When we arrived in Costa Rica all I wanted to do was sleep, but the monstrous number of people and near death experiences woke me up in a flash. After eating fried bananas and cheese we walked around an indoor mini city. It was the oldest indoor mall/market in Costa Rica………we eat fried bananas every meal. Costa Rica is an amazing place: I am sooooooo excited for the rest of the trip!

First Night in Costa Rica:
Wow. Perhaps this trip is going to be life’s way of paying us back for India, because only one day here and I’m another person already. I wish there was an exclamation to suit my feelings at present, but I know—heart and mind—this trip is going to be amazing…. So wish us luck!

Hello Costa Rica!
Well our first day was filled with many new and different experiences. from the local food to the art and entertainment. Costa Rica is no doubt filled with surprises. One attraction that I particularly enjoyed was Costa Rica’s National Theatre House—filled with beautiful marble statues, gorgeous paintings and a stage that any actor would give their left leg to perform on. I feel truly blessed to be able to have such an amazing adventure.

I’m sitting on the top level of a hostel. There is music in Spanish, the scent of rice, beans and fresh vegetables and the complete sense of a whole new culture. The first day was filled to the brim with entertainment of fine art, a grand opera house and all the amusement of every passing local. I must say that I have had very few experiences that enabled me to be part of a completely thrilling world—the world we all thrive in. I’m so happy!

Hello CCS! Thanks for everyone's input. I particularly enjoy seeing pictures and reading posts from students. Sounds like an engaging trip.
Please continue to post whenever possible. It's great sitting here in the middle of the continent and reading about your adventures and seeing pictures of everyone in such verdant environments.
