LINK heads to INDIA on March 20th!!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
The Crestone Charter School LINK Programs sends a heartfelt thanks to all of the individuals and groups who have participated in the fundraising efforts for our trip to India, March 20th through April 7th. Many of you have enjoyed our India Extravaganzas or our Italian Dinner night. Lots of you came to our Fashion Boutique or the community garage sale, or purchased items at our auction. Some of you bought sweets at the Post Office or at the Hazlerig Music House concert. Thank You!!
We would like to specially thank Ramloti and the Haidikhandi Universal Ashram for all their support and energy throughout this process. Thanks also to the POA and Cheyenne from the White Eagle for hosting our dinner events, and Jerry at the Post office for hosting the Valentines sale. Thanks to the Crestone Eagle for all of the help with advertising. And to Sylvia Hazlerig for hosting the house concert and for her other donations, and to Dessain, Monroe, and Brumm for playing such sweet music. Shumei contributed money, buckets of rice for our Indian Dinners, and auction items. Gratitude goes out to all who donated to the live and silent auction; the plethora of goods and services made for an outstanding event.
Most importantly, a HUGE Thank You goes to community members and groups who contributed to our Circle of Angels matching fund program. These individual donations of over $500 helped us by doubling donations from other contributors. Our Angels include Whitney Strong, Sharon Skolnik, Kundalini Yoga Group, Soaring Eagle Foundation, and others who wish to remain anonymous. Steve Winn is an honerary angel for his trailer donation and many miles of hauling.
Your fundraising contributions currently total over $25,000, and helped make this trip a reality. Your amazing support for the importance of international travel is outstanding and helps keep the Crestone Charter School one of the strongest academic programs in the state. Watch our progress, and learn more about our adventure at www.crestonecharter.blogspot.com. Upon return in April, we will host a post trip celebration and thank you event with slide show. Please join us.

  • Our students have been gone for a week now and there's nothing about them on this blog site. Are they doing O.K? Did they make it to Delhi? Jaipur? Dharamsala? They are pretty far away for no news in a week. A concerned parent in Crestone.

  • Hello Concerned Parent--thanks for commenting on the blog. Please email me at work to get on the parent email list to receive emails from India--the group is not having luck uploading to blogger from over there so they have been communicating in emails with the parent list that was provided. Please email me at ccs81131@yahoo.com to be included on the email list. The group is doing great and have many interesting updates you would enjoy reading. The trip has been extremely challenging for them in terms of shifting from 1st world to 3rd world paradigm, their writing is very expressive of this as well as the wonder of what they are seeing and experiencing. Today they will see the Karmapa for a private audience. Have you received a phone call yet? All Crestone parents have gotten at least one and in some cases two phone calls from their traveler. As a parent of a middle schooler who has been on the road since only Sunday, I appreciate the anxious of to make connection! Please email me at the above so you can receive email updates and writings from the students themselves. Thanks, Kathryn Brady, CCS Director.
