BONES!
What an intensely focused science lesson Primary students had today. When owls eat, they cannot digest the smaller bones and fur of their prey and they roll them into something like giant hairballs, then cough them up later, discarding of the undigestable pieces in little furry wads. Primary students went for a hike by Russell Lakes and gathered dozens of Owl Pellets. Today they disected the pellets and pieced together parts of the bones using a diagram of a rodent skeleton. When I entered the room the students were completely engaged and fascinated by what they were finding. Here in the picture one student shares with Thomas the jaw bone he discovered.
