Intermediate ambassadors

The intermediate class visited Mountain Valley School in Saguache today to do research for our Kids Guide to the San Luis Valley. We worked with the 5-6 grade class taught by Mrs. Sanchez, first getting acquainted with a game. Then we joined our host class for lunch in a real school cafeteria and noon recess. After that, we showed a series of PowerPoint slide shows about Crestone, put together from pictures taken by students. Five different groups did presentations about CCS, the Baca, Crestone town, Nature in our area and What Kids Do in Crestone.
Our Crestone class had previously come up

with a series of questions with which to interview the children of Saguache. We split into groups with the Saguache kids and interviewed them.
In addition to work with this class, we got a tour of Mountain Valley School by the school principal and the president of the high school student council. Our students wore the chamisa shirts we made in September, and showed up as true ambassadors of CCS. Great job!
Afterwards, we visited the city park, totally enjoying the beauty of a fall day. We ended our experience with a tour of the Saguache County Library, complete with a performance by the librarian, Mrs. Mondragon, on the beautiful old player piano there.
What a rich day experiencing our neighboring community!
