Opening Day Ceremony

 
 
 
 
Here are some images from our opening day ceremony--which included students writing and sharing their wishes for the new school year in a whole-school circle. The written wishes were placed into paper bags by each class, then put into a ceremonial fire, where they were burned and released to become manifest--with much hopeful encourgement from parents and community friends joining our circle. Jen Dopierala, CCS Primary teacher, led the entire group in an active song called, "Jump Jim Joe" and we all got to bounce and shake and make new partners and friends. School Superintendant, Eli Dokson, joins in the opeing day circle and well-wishes for the new year. Anrahyah Arstad, Intermediate teacher, and Thomas Cleary, LINK and Outdoor Ed teacher, conferred at the start of the ceremony.
