Memorials today (finn)

Today we visited lots of DC's memorials. We saw the Lincoln Memorial which was very cool because of all the detail that was put into it. There weren't any cracks or seams. We also saw the Jefferson memorial which wasn't as cool but it was still fun. We visited the tomb of the unknown where we saw people gaurding it. We also saw alot of other tombs and graves where many of the people who died in the wars were. It was odd to see rows and rows of gravestones lined up for tons of acres. We went to the Korean, Veitnam, and WWII memorials. The Veitnam one was cool because the actual project design was given a B- in college.
Tomorrow we tour the Whitehouse, Congress, and the Supreme Court.
ok bye

As I was posting another comment, more of your posts arrived. So I know you're up late tonight doing this!
Today you saw the various war memorials. It's important to remember that every one of those names was once a real, living person. None of them knew they were going to be listed there one day, or even that there'd be memorials such as you visited. On the Vietnam wall are Borgman, Leech, and Pellegrin. They were quite real when I knew them.
Interesting that the chosen Vietnam Memorial design had only received a B- grade in a college course!

Enjoyed reading your impressions of the Memorials. You have two great-great-uncles listed on the war memorials. George Johnson on the WWII and Will Johnson on the Korean memorials. They both were Marine pilots.
It sounds like you have a very interesting day ahead.
Love, ejg

Dear Finn,
Thanks for what you shared about your experience at the memorials. I'm glad you are getting a chance to see more of the world and have ideas about how it all does or doesn't make sense for you. Da says "call home" but actually, we went to santa fe friday and saturday and are in LaJara now having Easter brunch and will go fishing later, so you might wait until tonight since we can't get cell service out here. I love you, happy easter. A big hug to you, MOM.
